Pets Find Furry Family Members Online
Does your pet have a long-lost sibling out there somewhere? Maybe you never thought about it, but one man certainly did. Keishin Tanaka created a social networking site for pets that goes beyond the basics of blogging, photo sharing and pet profiles.
Pedi (http://pedi.jp), a Japanese site, matches pedigree certificates to find the family members of your cats and dogs, along with the typical social networking features we’ve all become obsessed with.
“More customers have been asking about finding their pet’s long-lost parents and siblings… So I decided to address their demands,” said Tanaka.
So far, Tanaka says that three matches have been made out of the 1,000 dogs and 100 cats registered on Pedi. He hopes the system will help reduce genetic illnesses in the future by providing the pet’s health information in the database.
Since the site is in Japanese, those of us over here won’t be able to get in on the action (unless you’re familiar with the language!), but we just wanted to share this new step in pet-centric products. Would you want to see something like this in the US?
